Celebrate Giving
The end of the year is always so busy with the holidays and all of the year-end items to tie up for clients, but we can’t fully say goodbye to 2021 without celebrating one of the very best parts.
Even though tax loss harvesting, Roth IRA contributions, and estate planning are riveting year-round, one of my favorite parts of running this business is giving back. It’s a principle the company was founded on. I knew I wanted to use Avant Financial Advisors as a vehicle for a lot of good in the world, not just for clients’ benefit, but also to bless people struggling in life.
So every year we take 10% of the business revenue from the top, and before we do anything else, we mark that for giving. Over the past 3 years we have given away thousands of dollars to charities doing work our clients care about, making the load lighter for countless lives.
So we are so excited to tell you about the organizations we chose to support in 2021!
Organizations We’re Supporting
Teach for America addresses educational gaps in lower-income areas by placing high-level educators and resources in those communities. Quality education is an important key to breaking poverty cycles. We love the work that TFA is doing through their relational approach to education for all students.
Millions of people around the world don’t have access to basic medical care to meet their needs. Doctors Without Borders sends medical professionals into these areas. They provide emergency response or clinics to treat medical issues that would go otherwise untreated. Many of our clients are doctors or nurses or work in other medical fields and are passionate about seeing quality care for all people.
Serving the homeless population right here in Austin, Texas, Mobile Loaves and Fishes delivers meals, clothing, and hygiene products 365 days a year to those living in homelessness. Community First! Village is their housing program dedicated to moving people off the streets and into community and permanent homes.
Helping Hand Home for Children
This local organization works to provide stability for children who have been removed from their homes. They equip foster families, provide adoption services, and support the families who are loving children who have experienced abuse or neglect. A large majority of our clients are parents who believe in the importance of a strong family foundation. We love the work Helping Hand Home does to make that foundation a reality for hundreds of children each year.
Several of our clients are experiencing the impact of cancer, either in themselves or a family member. MD Anderson is a long-time leader in care for cancer patients and research in best treatment options. We are proud to support their work to prolong life and offer hope to those navigating a cancer diagnosis.
It can be difficult for older people to find purpose and maintain a thriving lifestyle as they age. Coming of Age provides pathways for older people to become involved in civic engagement. They connect them to volunteer opportunities, education, and community relationships for support.
Because of our growth in new clients trusting us this year, we are able to give to more organizations and more than double the amount we gave last year!
